Editorial standards
How Telemetry sources, rates confidence in, reviews and updates its briefings.
Bottom line up front
Every briefing opens with a BLUF: the answer in one or two sentences. The detail follows.
Confidence
Each briefing states a confidence level and the basis for it:
- High: the core claims rest on primary sources, such as a regulator's own document or a published standard.
- Moderate: the core claims rest on credible secondary reporting, or a mix of primary and secondary sources.
- Low: the claims rest on limited or single-source reporting. We say what would change our view.
Sourcing
We link to primary sources wherever they exist and say so when we rely on secondary reporting. Sources are numbered in each briefing.
Review
Technical primers name a technical reviewer. The reviewer is shown under the headline.
Updates
When facts change we update the briefing, change its updated date and log the change. We do not change dates without changing content.
Independence
Commercial partners do not review or approve editorial content. See ownership and funding and the commercial content policy.
